Kerry Williams
I grew up in South Central Pennsylvania in the Allegany Mountain region, a sleepy little town called Bedford, most famous for George Washington's stay there and possum kicking activities. Got into playing guitar when I was 13 or so .. I think the first song I learned was "Listen to the Rhythm of the Falling Rain" Played in a couple of Bedford bands doing 70's music, most likely cause it was the 70's. When I turned 18, for some reason I thought it a good idea to join the Marines. It was there I got into playing acoustic 12 string guitar. It was also during this time I met my good friend Barry Crannell, he and I started bands playing Old Time, Folky, and Celtic kind of stuff. The Circle Album was a big influence on us, so was Doc Watson and Norman Blake. Ahh. but then I heard David Grisman's "Hot Dawg", and I thought that mando was coolest thing I ever heard. I bought a $39 Stella mando, that I would tie to my bike and peddle 12 miles to work and back..I mostly learned to play mando in the men's restroom on breaks where I worked in Santa Anta, California. My Stella met it's end when it was sat on by a lady I was dating at the time. But I was hooked on mando by that time and I acquired another. Before too long, I was turned on to Django and Grappelli, then things went really down hill. Just when you think, Hey I'm getting the hang of this.. you find these amazing people that change the way you think ... Geez, did you ever listen to Hamilton De Holando.
I now live in Hood River, Oregon where I am married to a fantastic woman, Cindy. We have had 5 kids living with us at a time, hence the crazy look in my eyes. This is also where I my met my good friend Rick Hulett. Rick and I have been playing music for around 15 years, sometimes I think we might as well be married as well. We currently perform with 5 bands that cover different genre's of music styles. Check the links.
